Chris Boughey is the founder and Chief Instructor
of North West Chinese Kickboxing, with over thirty years
of training and teaching in the martial arts, Chris holds
a 4th Degree Black Sash in Lau Gar Kung Fu and a 6th Degree
Black Belt in Kickboxing.
Chris is also the current England team coach for the World
Kickboxing Association. |
Chris began his martial
arts career back in 1977 when he trained in Lau Gar Kung
Fu with some of Lau’s finest instructors including
Clive Parkinson and Humphrey Broomes. He eventually went
on to train for many years with Lau’s founder and
chief instructor Master Jeremy Yau.
A move to the North West of England prompted Chris to
host many courses with some of the world’s leading
martial artist such as Bill Wallace and Joe Lewis. In
this way, introducing his students to new approaches as
he continued to search out new methods to improve his
training and teaching. An approach which continues to
this day.
Acknowledged as one of the country’s best heavyweight
fighters, Chris has represented his country both nationally
and internationally, notching up over one hundred competitive
bouts. Chris was a founder member of the now legendary
multi –style fighting squad The Warriors who took
on every challenge in their own inimitable way.
Chris’ achievements in the competitive arena are
well documented in the martial arts press and he is regularly
seen in publications such as Martial Arts Illustrated
and Fighters both on front cover articles and in his own
well received columns Back to Basics and The Learning
Curve.
The Association which Chris founded over ten years ago
continues to grow from strength to strength with well
over 150 Black belts taught personally by Chris. Clubs
in the region have expanded all over the North West now
producing several World Champions within their ranks.
The role of England Team Coach remains one of Chris’
national roles and he will once again take the team to
compete at world level for the tenth consecutive year. |
