This year fourteen of NWCKB’s finest kickboxers headed to
Portugal to the World Kickboxing Championships. Some fighters were very experienced on
the World stage but for some of the group this was their first chance at a World Title.
This was the thirteenth World Kickboxing Championships that Chief Instructor Chris Boughey
had lead The England Team. It came as a great honour and greater surprise that he was awarded
his 7th Degree Black Belt by Peter Lewis World President of the World Kickboxing Council
for his services coaching The England Team.
NWCKB’s medal tally was impressive with Elliot Moore retaining his World Title and winning
gold. The tally continued with a further 5 silver medals and 7 bronze.
It has to be our best Kickboxing Championships yet.
A special mention must go to the Allsop family with Rick and Sharon both winning silver and
Daniella – our youngest ever fighter on a NWCKB World Squad, with great things ahead of her.
Well done to all fighters and a big thanks to Ian Middlemiss for all his work as our
official photographer- he put in very long hours!
