Cllr Beth Atkins return visit
Councillor Beth Atkins returned to NWCKB's New Mills Club on Tuesday the 1st of March to witness the positive progress of the clubs junior members and see with her own eyes the benefits provided to the club with her Derbyshire County Council Community Leadership Fund uniforms sponsored for the Junior Members.

Im Sure all will agree that the junior members all look like Kickboxers in their new suits (see before and after pictures) but as stated by Cllr Beth Atkins, its not just about the way they look. The students are clearly all progressing exceptionally well with their training. The 1st of March was also the same day Students were assesed for nomination for the New Mills junior Student Excellence award, with the excellence awards for this term being awarded for good solid Hard work and graft.

The Junior Students were put through a solid training session that would have made many of the higher grades wince, and as Beth pointed out "picking out two students to recieve an award is a difficult task with them all performing so well" but in the end two students had to be picked, with an excellent work rate being displayed by all. The final selection for the awarded students was based on the students keeping a strong focus and giving nothing away whilst training, showing that they would not be beaten and were not prepared to show any signs of tiring. As such, the awards went to Jake Barnes and Ethan Nevett, Congratulations to you both.

The class finished with Cllr Beth Atkins addressing the New Mills club, congratulating all members on their performance as well as the continued progress of the junior members and a mention to the excellent results achieved by the club at the WKC Nationals.

Once again we thank Cllr Beth Atkins for her continued support. We are pleased to know that Beth feels that the use of her Derbyshire County Council Community leadership Fund was a good investment .
